Hiking

We are also situated right on the Maitland Trail. It is ideal for a relaxed stroll or a slow bike to the beach or town. You may also want to bike to Auburn or the Falls Reserve.  Click on the middle picture for more details and maps…

CHILDREN'S SUMMER HIKE-CAMP EXPERIENCE
For the third year in a row, we are taking a limited group of children (ages 7-12) to introduce them to hiking in a 'hike immersion' environment. This outing has been a great success, so we are, of course, eager to head out again. We will hike 2 sections of the Maitland Trail over a two day period, and camp out on the night in between. Tents, sleeping bags and food will be car-ferried to the camping site so that the children need only carry their day packs with their lunch and drinks, and any other extras they might need during the day - i.e. a wind jacket or sweater. (Accompanying adults are not to be the kids 'packhorses') Activities and games will be part of each day's hikes to make it both a learning experience and a lot of fun. The pace will be geared for children, however as the days will be fairly active, (the trail has lots of ups and downs), the children taking part should be both eager to go and fairly fit. We will have a planning get together for those who think they may be interested in having their children take part. More details will be given at this time, and your input and ideas will also be welcome.
